Outdoor GreatRoom DIY Fire Pit Burner Kit, 36" x 36" Square

The Outdoor GreatRoom Company DIY-3636S-K is a 36" x 36" square burner kit designed specifically for custom-built fire pits constructed from block or paver materials. If you've already invested thought into building the fire pit itself, this kit handles the functional core — and it handles it well.

At the heart of the kit is the Crystal Fire Plus burner insert (model BP36S), fabricated from 304 stainless steel — the same corrosion-resistant alloy used in commercial food-service equipment. That's not a coincidence; outdoor fire features face the same punishing combination of heat, moisture, and time. The burner plate is also 304 stainless, so the parts most exposed to direct flame aren't cutting corners on material grade.

Output is rated at 105,000 BTU on liquid propane and 106,000 BTU on natural gas — enough to produce a commanding, wide flame spread across a 36-inch footprint. The kit ships configured for LP, and a natural gas conversion kit is included in the box, so the choice of fuel type doesn't have to be made at the point of purchase.

Control is handled by the included VSCV-DIY-CP control panel with integrated gas valve, paired with the BI28 ignition system. Two vent blocks are included to handle proper airflow within the pit enclosure — a detail that's easy to overlook when sourcing components individually. Clear tempered glass gems are also in the package, giving you a finished media layer to work with from day one (additional burner media is available separately if you want to customize the look further).

The kit carries UL Listing, which matters both for peace of mind and for satisfying local permitting requirements that increasingly call for certified components in gas fire installations.

This 36" x 36" configuration is one of four square sizes in the DIY series — 24", 30", 36", and 42" — so if your pit dimensions are already drawn up, there's a matching kit. Construction materials for the pit surround are sold separately, keeping the scope of this kit focused on what it does: the fire, the fuel, and the controls.
