Outdoor GreatRoom 40" See-Through Linear Ready-to-Finish Gas Fireplace

The Outdoor GreatRoom RSTL-40DNG is a 40-inch see-through linear gas fireplace built to be finished, not just installed. Its enclosure is fabricated from G90 marine-grade galvanized steel — a corrosion-resistance spec more commonly associated with coastal construction than living room centerpieces — and lined with Hardiebacker fiber cement board. The fireplace opening itself is clad in #304 stainless steel, the same alloy you'd find in a professional kitchen. None of that is accidental.

At 72 inches wide overall and 48 inches tall, the unit houses a 40-inch-wide by 20-inch-tall viewing area that passes cleanly through both sides — genuinely see-through, not a marketing approximation. The Crystal Fire Plus BI737 burner, also in #304 stainless steel, produces 80,000 BTUs and supports both Direct Spark Ignition and Manual Ignition control options. The control panel opening is pre-cut; the control panel itself is ordered separately, giving you flexibility in how you configure the finished installation.

Vents come pre-installed, and glass wind guard panels are included — two details that matter when you're coordinating a build. The base includes an access door for a standard 20 lb. propane tank, though this unit is configured for natural gas with hard-pipe installation recommended. An NG conversion kit is included for added flexibility.

For installations involving combustible framing materials, optional standoffs (model RSTL-40-SO, sold separately) allow compliant over-framing without reworking your clearances. Fire media, external controls, timers, and emergency stop components are not included and must be specified separately — which means you're not paying for a media kit you didn't want, and you have full control over the finished aesthetic.

The RSTL-40DNG is UL and ULC listed to ANSI Z21.97-2017/CSA 2.41-2017, and it's manufactured in the USA. At 218 lbs., it's substantial enough to take seriously and engineered to be worth it.
