Montigo Distinction 36" See-Through Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Montigo Distinction D3615STNI-2 earns its keep on both sides of a wall simultaneously. Its 36" x 15½" see-through viewing area is framed by high-temperature neoceram glass on each face, with a black reflective ceramic liner that gives the firebox a depth that photographs well and looks even better in person. Two rooms, one fireplace — it's the architectural move that makes guests ask questions.

At the heart of the unit is Montigo's fourth-generation concealed linear burner, which disappears entirely beneath two supplied bags of ice fireglass. The result is a clean, uninterrupted ribbon of flame with none of the mechanical hardware trying to steal the spotlight. At 35,000 BTU on either natural gas or propane, with efficiency ratings of 71.96% (NG) and 70.48% (LP), this is a fireplace that actually heats the space rather than just warming the aesthetic.

The Proflame 2 IPI (Intermittent Pilot Ignition) system means the pilot light only operates when you need it — a small but meaningful contribution to efficiency. The included multi-function Proflame 2 remote handles flame height, fan speed, and the multi-color LED uplighting from wherever you happen to be sitting. A 30% turn-down gas valve gives you precise flame control beyond simple on/off, and the circulating fans help distribute heat without requiring a separate system. A micro mesh safety screen is included as standard.

Installation is handled through 5"/8" direct vent, with a 4"/7" alternative available using the PVA5487 adapter. Side clearances of 4½" keep framing requirements manageable — the unit frames to 59¾" wide, 49 15/16" tall, and 17 11/16" deep. Zero clearance at the back and floor front simplifies the rough-in considerably. The unit is rated for installations up to 4,500 feet elevation.

Heat management is covered through compatibility with Montigo's optional Cool Wall Advantage heat management kits — a worthwhile consideration for any installation where wall surface temperatures need active management. The full Distinction series Cool Wall heat distribution ecosystem is also supported. A wall switch can be wired in as an alternative or supplementary control, and propane conversion is available via kit GC015 if your installation calls for it.

Gas supply requirements are 11" W.C. for natural gas and 13.8" W.C. for propane. All other installation specifics should be confirmed with your licensed contractor against local code requirements.
