The Vail 36 See-Through Peninsula fireplace opens a 36-inch wide by 22-inch tall window into living flame — on both sides at once. Designed as a true peninsula unit, it anchors a room divider or wraps a corner without the structural commitment of a traditional masonry hearth. No chimney. No flue. Just fire, visible from two directions, on demand.

At the heart of the unit is Empire's Slope Glaze Vista Burner, which produces a layered, dimensional flame pattern rather than the flat, front-row-only effect of a conventional burner. Output is adjustable between 25,000 and 38,000 BTU/hr via millivolt control, giving you a genuine range from a quiet ambient glow to a serious heat source. The firebox interior is finished in banded ceramic firebrick — a liner material chosen for its heat retention and its ability to develop the kind of warm, aged appearance that only improves with use.

Overall dimensions come in at 39 inches wide, 37¾ inches tall, and 24 inches deep, with a rough framing requirement of 39" W x 38" H x 23" D. The unit ships at 175 lbs, so plan your installation accordingly — this is not a last-minute project. Front combustible material clearance is 36 inches minimum, and sidewall clearance is 1¾ inches minimum; both figures matter during framing and should be confirmed with your installer before construction begins.

The Vail 36 is built for accessory integration. The LSU24RR-2 24-inch Refractory Log Set is the compatible log set for this firebox (ordered separately), and the top of the firebox accepts an LK2 Accent Light Kit that adds subtle illumination independent of the flame itself. For ember aesthetics, the unit is compatible with both the EK-1 Embers Kit and the PE-20 Platinum Embers. If you want active air circulation, the optional FBB4 Variable Speed Automatic Blower can be added to the installation. Gas inlet is 3/8".

The see-through peninsula configuration is not a common format, and it demands a fireplace built specifically for it — not a standard insert shoehorned into an opening it wasn't designed for.
