It's compatible with a range of 4" x 6⅝" venting systems, including Simpson Duravent, American Metal Products, Selkirk Direct-Temp, Security Secure Vent, Excel DV Venting, and BDM — so you're not locked into a single ecosystem when sourcing components.

Inside the firebox, a contour tube-style burner produces a flame profile designed to play naturally against the hand-painted ceramic fiber log set. The logs aren't an afterthought; the ceramic fiber construction retains and radiates heat while the hand-painted finish delivers the kind of detail that holds up to close inspection from the couch. Two ceramic fiber liner options — Aged Brick and Herringbone — let you tailor the firebox interior to match your room's character.

The intermittent pilot ignition (IP) system lights on demand rather than burning a standing pilot around the clock, which is a small but meaningful efficiency gain over a full heating season. Operating on 120V AC, the Madison DVP42 also supports battery backup operation during a power outage — useful in climates where the two tend to coincide.
