What sets this burner apart mechanically is its integrated radiant fiber heat sink. Most vented burners rely on sand or vermiculite to scatter and diffuse flame — this one doesn't. The radiant fiber element produces convincing, glowing flame on its own, which means one less material to fuss with during installation and one less thing to replace down the road.

Control is handled by a millivolt valve with an on/off switch — a system that operates independently of household electrical power. For those who want more convenience, three optional control accessories are available: a remote control (FRBC), a dedicated wall switch (FWS1), or a switch integrated into a refractory log chunk (SWL). None of these are included by default, but each integrates cleanly with the millivolt system.

Compatibility is intentionally specific here. This burner is designed to work with either the Kensington Forest or the Pioneer Refractory Vented Log Set — and those are the only two log sets it's rated for. That pairing isn't a limitation so much as a design decision: the burner and log sets are engineered as a matched system, which is why the flame presentation looks as cohesive as it does.

Installation also includes a damper clamp, which keeps the fireplace damper in the open position as required for safe vented operation. The burner ships configured for natural gas; LP conversion kits are available separately for those who need them.
