The Bordeaux Square Fire Bowl from American Fyre Designs is built from glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) with a refractory cement interior — a material pairing chosen specifically because outdoor fire features have no business being fragile. At 36" square and just over 15" tall, it sits low and commanding, the kind of piece that anchors a seating area without competing with it.

The French Oak Reclaimed Wood finish deserves a closer look. It reads as tactile and organic — the sort of surface that looks more convincing the longer you stare at it. Concrete that genuinely fools the eye is harder to pull off than it sounds, and American Fyre Designs has been doing it long enough to get it right.

Beneath that finish, the burner is a 16" stainless steel star-shaped design rated at 65,000 BTUs on both natural gas and propane. That output generates a broad, expressive flame pattern across the star geometry — considerably more visual interest than a simple ring burner at the same BTU rating. The star shape distributes flame across a wider surface area, which means more fire where it can actually be seen.

Media is not included, and the two recommended options behave differently. Lava rock (20 lbs. recommended) gives a more naturalistic, rugged look and tends to complement the Reclaimed Wood finish particularly well. Glass media (40 lbs. recommended) reflects light and adds visual brilliance — a different aesthetic entirely. Both work; the choice comes down to the mood you're building around the bowl.
