Montigo L38DF-ST See-Through Direct Vent Fireplace, 35¼" Viewing

The Montigo L38DF-ST opens a 35¼-inch-wide by 18-inch-tall window of flame between two rooms — which is either a bold design move or a very convincing argument for not having walls in the first place. Either way, it works.

At its core is a linear burner (RBL38501) rated at 27,000 BTU/H — 7.91 kilowatts of heat output delivered through a stainless steel chassis built to handle the demands of a double-sided installation. The SIT Electronic Ignition system runs on an Intermittent Pilot Ignition (IPI) setup, meaning the pilot only runs when you actually need it. Less standby gas consumption, more efficiency where it counts.

Framing is straightforward: the unit requires a 41" W × 40" H × 23¾" D rough opening, with a minimum vertical vent rise of 42 inches. Venting runs through the Montigo Standard Series 5"/8" direct vent system — configurable for either top or rear exit to suit your installation layout. Flexmaster flex venting is also compatible for runs that don't go perfectly straight (and they rarely do).

Two galvanized steel metal headers are included, as is the glass door. The burner pan can be dressed with optional cultured rocks or designer glass beads — small choices that have a surprisingly large impact on the finished look from both sides of the glass.

For added comfort and control, the L38DF-ST is compatible with the optional HFK50 Fan Kit, as well as remote control systems and battery backup options. Spare parts availability — including the RGC1006 gas valve, RPA020 pilot, and RDTL38 thermocouple — means this fireplace is built with long-term serviceability in mind, not just the sale.
