At 250,000 BTUs, Firegear's 44-inch spur burner system isn't here to produce a polite flicker. This is a commercial-grade output in a residential-grade package — the kind of fire that actually warms the people sitting farthest from it.
The pan and burner are both constructed from 304 stainless steel, a marine-grade alloy chosen for its resistance to heat, moisture, and the general hostility of outdoor environments. The 44-inch pan houses a 36-inch spur burner — the spur design disperses flame across multiple points rather than a single ring, creating a fuller, more dramatic fire pattern across your chosen media bed.
Speaking of media: this system is compatible with lava rock or glass media at a minimum of 1 inch in diameter. That detail matters — undersized media can obstruct the burner ports and compromise performance. Standard stone or rock is not compatible with this unit and should not be used.
Ignition is match-throw, meaning no electronic components to troubleshoot, no batteries to replace, and no service calls because a spark igniter got moisture in it. Strike a match, introduce it to the burner, done. For those who prefer a more automated lighting experience, electronic ignition options exist elsewhere in the Firegear lineup — but there's something to be said for the reliability of a system with zero ignition electronics to fail.
This unit ships configured for natural gas. Conversion to liquid propane is possible using the OAS-LPK12 conversion kit, sold separately — worth noting before you finalize your gas line plans.
The complete assembly weighs 42 pounds, making installation manageable without heavy equipment. It is not UL Listed, so verify local code requirements with your installer before purchase — especially relevant for permitted outdoor construction projects.
Whether you're specifying this for a custom built-in fire table, a contractor-built outdoor fireplace surround, or a large freestanding fire pit enclosure, the 44-inch pan size accommodates a wide range of project footprints. Plan your media bed depth and enclosure dimensions around the 36-inch active burner zone and the 44-inch pan perimeter accordingly.
