American Fyre Designs Bordeaux Petite Square Fire Bowl, 30", GFRC

The Bordeaux Petite Square Fire Bowl is built from Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete — the same material used in architectural facades — lined with refractory cement that handles sustained heat without complaint. At 30 inches square and 12-1/4 inches tall, it occupies exactly the footprint it promises: compact enough for a modest patio, substantial enough at 140 lbs to feel genuinely permanent.

The 16-inch stainless steel star burner at its center produces 65,000 BTU, which is a serious amount of heat for a fire feature this size. Ignition is handled by a manual flame-sensing control system with an electronic push-button igniter powered by AA batteries — no gas line to the igniter, no hardwired power supply, no complications. A thermocouple safety valve shuts the gas off automatically if the flame goes out, so you're not left wondering.

The fire bowl ships with lava granules as base media, but the burner area itself calls for separately purchased primary decorative media — either 15 lbs. of lava media or 30 lbs. of glass media, depending on the look you're after. Fyreglass and decorative lava rocks are available as optional accessories if you want to get particular about the aesthetic.

Installation flexibility is real here: the Bordeaux Petite can sit above ground as a standalone feature or drop into a custom surround for an in-ground installation. The cavity requirement for in-ground use is 34"W x 34"D x 15"H minimum. Gas connection is via a 1/2" gas line with a 24" flex line included. Clearance requirements are 48 inches from combustible materials horizontally and 72 inches from any overhead combustibles — worth confirming before you finalize placement.

Seven finish options span the line: Black Lava, White Aspen, Cafe Blanco, Smoke, Travertine, Dark Basalt, and Light Basalt. Optional accessories include propane tank end tables in reclaimed wood or GFRC finishes, 10-foot propane hoses, wind guards, and protective covers — useful additions if this bowl is going to see year-round use.
